A Variety of Marine Wildlife
September 1, 2010
This morning we started off watching about 10 Resident Orcas from L-Pod just off Beecher Bay. We had excellent sightings of L41, L77, L94, L113 (Mega, his 2 sisters and the newest calf). They were travelling and foraging. We also had an encounter with a Humpback whale feeding off of Beechy Head. Our tour then took us to Race Rocks where we were lucky to see many Stellar and California sea lions, Harbour and Elephant seals.
This afternoon we found ourselves watching 6 Transient Orcas (3 females and 3 calves) west of Sooke Harbour travelling and foraging. After watching the seals and sea lions at Race Rocks we spotted a Humpback whale south of Victoria’s harbour. Another exciting day of viewing a variety of wildlife!
