Watching the Steller's Sea Lion eating his salmon, the salmon was about 10 lbs! They rip the salmon open to get rid of their guts before they eat the fillets.

Seeing the sea otter which is still quite rare for this area!  And seeing four humpbacks in one day!

Orca Whale Sightings

Today we saw humpacks!! A mother and a calf and then two lone males.

Other Wildlife Sightings

We also saw california and stellar sea lions and harbour seals. And one sea otter!!!

We travelled out 6 miles South of Race Rocks and then to Race Rocks itself.

Seeing the Minke Whale Lunge Feeding.

We were out bright and early on the water this morning and saw a minke whale!

We also saw Stellar Sea Lions, California Sea Lions and Harbour Seals. In addition we saw double-crested cormorants and common muires.

Memorable Moment from this Tour

We saw lots of activity, the whales were foraging, high speed swimming, tail slaps and a spy hop!  A memorable moment was watching a mature male Cappacchino surface in the swells.

We saw Orcas from K and J-Pod including Cappucchino [K-21] and Hy'shqua [J-37] and her calf.

We also saw Califonia and Stellar Sea Lions and Harbour Seals.

We travelled south of east Sooke in the Juan de Fuca Straight and Race Rocks Light House.

Seeing T-018c (the male in the group) amd his dorsal fin which is very large even though he was only born in 1995.  It is currently very distinctive as it droops a little at the top!

We saw transient orcas of the T-18 matriline.

We also saw harbour porpoise, coromorants, auklets and harbour seals.

We went to Trial Island where captain Brad spotted the group of transients!!! Then we went to Chain Islands, Chatham Island and Discovery Island.

Memorable Moment from this Tour

Seeing a big breach!!  Also the tail waving and seeing the "left overs" floating in the water after the orcas made a kill.

Orca Whale Sightings

We managed to catch up with the transient T-60s again this afternoon. The group conisisted of the mother (T-60) and her four offspring.

We also saw harbour seals, harbour porpoise and a minke whale.

We again travelled out south west of Victoira Harbour and then went to Trial Island.

It was great seeing the two calfs play and porpoise around as the mother caught a seal and everyone got a share!!

We saw transient T-60s (a group of five whales).

We also saw harbour porpoise, common muires, rhinoceros auklets, california and stellar sea lions and harbour seals.

Watching the 6-foot dorsal fin of the male tower out of the water beside his sister.

We saw transients T-20 (adult male ) and T-21 (adult female ) who are likely to be siblings.

Watching the family surface together and seeing the new baby orca (T30B1) born in 2012.  It was also great seeing the mature male with a 6 foot tall dorsal fin.

Today we saw transient orcas from the T30 matriline (the mom T-30, the adult son T-30A, the daughter T-30B, T30C and T30B1 the daughter of T30B).

Other Wildlife Sightings

We also saw harbour seals and double crested cormorants.
